| April Fair | | Horse-ride: Hitches |
The sorting of hitches according to the number and position of the
horses is:
- Limonera: Only one horse between two rods that
form part of the carriage solidly and are connected to it. They can
either be two or four wheeled.
- Tronco: Two horses, one on each side of the rod
parallel. The horse on the right is lead "by hand" and the
one on the left is lead "by force".
- Tandem: Two horses in extension. On between
rods, next to the carriage and the other in front.
- Tresillo: Trunk with a front guide.
- Cuartas: 4 horses hitched in extensions two
by two and called "troncos" those that go between the rods
and the "guides" that go in front of them.
- Potencia: Three horses between two hitched
parallel rods. The horse to the right is controlled "by hand",
the one in the middle is "power", and the one to the left
is "force".
- Gran potencia: Six horses, three for power,
three in front to guide. Classic in the "calesera" style
and less frequent in the English-style.
- Media potencia: Five horses, two side by side
and three in the front attached to the coach by means of an
extended balancing rod.
- A la larga: Many pairs of horses in extension.
In the front there could only be one guide horse. It is correct to
hitch the horses like this up to five.
