The Cathedral is the largest gothic church in all of Christendom. It was constructed in the fifteenth century on the site of the ancient Great Mosque. Must-sees include: the Capilla Mayor (Great Chapel), with its magnificent altarpiece; the Capilla Real (Royal Chapel), added in the sixteenth century; the Sacristía (sacristy) de los Cálices, the Sacristía Mayor, the Sala Capitular (Chapterhouse), and the Tesoro (Treasury). Christopher Columbuss mausoleum is located at one end of the horizontal nave. |
