Itinerary: Gérgal - Turrilla - Sorbas - Río Aguas.

SORBAS (ALMERIA) |
This zone presents a very low precipitation (annual 300 mm.) and very unpredictable.
It has a vegetation well adapted to the aridity, such as the esparto fields,
exploited since immemorial time in which one found unique species in Europe.
The route begins crossing the Tabernas desert, with an impressive scenery,
which emphasizes the Mediterranean type of avenues with rivers without water.
It connects with the Sierra Alamilla, middle mountain zone with the
1387 m. Codavil peak. Here it is worthy to mention a holm oak wood, authentic relic with
an abundance of protected, predatory birds.

Finishing off crossing Los Yesos of Sorbas, with a very characteristic relief and with
many subterranean formations, projecting the Aguas river that produces a strong
contrast in the middle of a steppe scenery. This zone the same as the former serves
as a refuge for predatory and steppe species of birds.
