GENERAL VIEW OF NERJA
To begin we meet in Southern Malaga at the mouth of the Guadalhorce that despite its degradation, is a rest zone and ladder of the migratory birds that cross the Strait of Gibraltar. In these proximities it is interesting to observe the sugar cane crops, a prelude to the tropical crops that will appear in the plains of Motril and Almuñécar. In the limits of the province of Malaga with Granada are the cliffs of Maro and Cerro Gordo with coves and beaches where marine birds live such as the razorbill, the black-headed gull, the herring gull, and the lesser black-backed gull.
Passing the beach of the Herradura one finds the subtropical crops of cherimoyas, papayas, avocados, bananas and mangos. Upon entering the Almeria province the lagoon of Adra appears, an important and vital refuge for aquatic birds. After the interesting complex Punta Entinas appears. A savin juniper, with dunes, saline areas, beaches, and an abundant fauna, such as the Audoiun gull, the miniature gull, the lesser black-backed gull, slender-billed gull, and black-headed gull. The Cape of Gata-Níjar Natural Park is the final part of this journey with the relevant, emerging volcanos of the Gata Sierra that form the cape, distinguishing it from the rest of the coast, of natural deposits with lagoons and humid zones. In these coasts many years ago one could observe the presence of the most endangered mammal of the Mediterranean, the Monk Seal.
