The scenery of Sierra Nevada is the only tall mountain range in Andalusia; in fact this is where the maximum heights in the Peninsula are found. The presence of snow is an indication of the altitude, since the relief is not excessively abrupt, above all in its foothills. The route begins in the Motril pit, where the ascent of the sierra begins. The contrast is well-known, since it passes through a climate and subtropical crops to snowy zones. After leaving the coast, one arrives to Lanjarón, with a profusion of medicinal mineral water sources and fruit trees. From here the route penetrates in this region from the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada with picturesque towns and mountainous scenery, with almond trees and old leafy trees that according to the seasons vary their appearance.

From the Ragua Pass one passes through the northern slope that offers the vision of very distinct scenery with Guadix pit. One continues on through the Huétor Sierra where the Diezma vantage point is, with an excellent panorama of Sierra Nevada. In this enclave one finds fountains of the Darro and Fardes rivers. From Granada one has new access to Sierra Nevada and rises up to the Mulhacén through the asphalt highway of major height in Europe. Accordingly as one ascends, the vegetation becomes more sparse until arriving to the Alpine tundra, which is very rich in unique species.
