Sun and Beach Tourism
White Coast

The Almeria coast, with over 190 km (about 125 miles) of both public and private beaches, contains many of the coves, bays and cliffs of the mediterranean coast. On these beaches it is possible to practice naturism, as well as a whole range of watersports, especially underwater fishing.

ALMERIA

TOWNS
Above all Almeria is a bright region, registering over 3100 hours of sun a year. For this reason the Hispano-German Centre of Astronomy (Calar Alto) was set up in the outskirts of Gergal, possesing the most powerful European telescope, and in Tabernas the most hi-tec solar panels in Europe, given by the International Energy Agency. The province enjoys an average temperature of 12.6o in Winter and 23.2o in Summer. The blessing of its climate and the specific characteristics of the Campo de Dalías ("Field of Dahlias") with the natural defense of the Gádor Sierra, preventing the penetration of the nothern winds, have made this agricultural area equally one of the most productive in Europe.

Almeria is a province of contrasts: from the fertility of the Campo de Dalías to the desert. The area around Tabernas contains reminders of the powerful cinematografic industry which once recreated scenes from the American West there.
